My name is Wesley Johnson and, as of the 7th of September, I am a freshman at Columbia University. I plan to major in Economics with a concentration in Anthropology. I chose to take Japanese as my language because, throughout middle school and high school, I had an interest in Japanese but I never got the opportunity to take the class. When I came here, I was given the opportunity to take the language and immediately grasped it. I am incredibly excited about learning how to speak the language and being able to eventually use it in a conversation. The one thing that I think that I think will be very hard will be the learning of Hirigana as well as Kanji because it is essentially learning an entirely new alphabet. However, I am very excited to learn and eager for the challenge.

ああ、そうですか。わたしは Ben M. です。いちねんせいですか。わたしはにねんせいです。エンギニアのがくせいです。 I believe that good number of engineers tend to minor in Economics, because it gets way more mathematical after Principles of Econ.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to learn にほんご。 I wish we could all take a trip there, but alas, no shopping malls for us.

ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm also planning to major in Econ! Definitely agree with you on the challenges of learning the new alphabets. We're going to need a lot of practice in order to master them.
